HNT #34

I’m going to be starting a new job in mid-September, so I’m taking off my blue collar.  Sort of.

It’s a new position with the same company.  But it’s a sort of management position, so I won’t be painting anymore.

I’m having mixed feelings about it.  I really enjoy painting.  And I like the solitude of painting. Plus, painting is something I know I’m good at.  The new job is a whole new world and I don’t know that I am ready.  But my boss came to me about the change, so I guess he thinks I am.

I hope he’s right.

For both our sakes.

After today, there are just two Thursdays left, so that means only two Half-Nekkid Thursdays to come.

Hmm…but don’t to halves make a whole?  :-)

Congratulations on your new position! I am sure you will do fine. I have always felt you were way to smart to be a painter. You can always do that on your own time, just come to my house, I have plenty of painting to be done! Hey, the cream always rises to the top!

If you don’t like the new job, you can always return to painting, right? Beyond that please, please, please let two halves make a whole.

Change is always difficult and can be really really scary especially if you aren’t really sure you deserve the good stuff and it challenges your comfort zones,

    BUT

change can be a good thing, it can stretch your image of yourself in ways that you never imagined and once you start, before you know it it’s your new comfort zone and you have a hard time imagining ever doing anything else except as a pleasant dream….

Painting is a good thing (kind of like moving Televisions, tons of stretching and lots of time in your own head), it leaves you time to think but sometimes doing is what is needed.

I assume there ’s a decent wage increase?? So is there really a down side to making the change?

What does Granny say? Bet she thought it was about time, huh?

If she’s anything like Auntie she probably said something like, “Hmmph, about time time they noticed your brain instead of your body”, Auntie said something like that the 1st time I took a semi-management job and she was sort of right, it was a good thing at the time and it gave me the confidence to know that when I went on to the next job I had the skills they were looking for but I STILL enjoy moving TVs….

Only 2 Thursdays left?? 2 1/2s can make a whole especially if they fit together to make a complete picture…

Two halves do make a whole, unless you’re employing some of that fuzzy math that I’ve heard a lot about. Great news on the job….keep your mind and heart open to any possibility. Who knows where it may lead you! Good wishes and happiness in every journey.

I’m sure you’ll do fine. Stepping into a new position can be daunting but you have the right mindset and are clearly intelligent. I wish you all the best at it.

Wow! Hurrah! You will be superb in your new work. What a lucky boss to have someone like you that may be promoted.

    And,

    hopeing for the other half.

  12. greg Says:

Congratulations on the new job. I have no doubt you’ll do a great job.

As for the other matter, two halves won’t make us whole (unless we’re talking in words that sound alike!), but it’s still an entertaining and tantalizing prospect. Lordy, summer goes by faster every year, doesn’t it.

  13. Jayson Says:

I vote that one of the next two Thursdays be a Completely Nekkid Thursday.

  14. Dave Says:

Plato in his Symposium says a funny story about how two halves make a whole. Down to earthlier matters: did you get a pay raise??? They’d better have given you one!

Oh – anyone w/DSL or dail-up service has seen the whole. …and mozel tov, btw. :) …on the job too!
