Out With “N”

nword.jpg

I can’t remember whether I read it somewhere or saw it on TV, but there was a news report that the NAACP is banning the “N” word. They even had a mock funeral for it. It’s not everyday that your murderer is involved in the funeral arrangements, too. (Unless you’re, say… Nicole Brown Simpson).

Now that the almost 100-year old organization is putting a ban on the “N” word, what are they going to do about their name. Does that now make them the FAACP? The Federal Association for the Advancement of Colored People? The American Association for the Advancement of Colored People (AAACP)?

The use of the “N” word in rap music was the initial trigger for the movement, I figger. But now it’s much bigger. They want it gone from everything. So, what happens to the National Football League? National Geographic? I guess next school children won’t be allowed to recite “one Nation under God,” in public classrooms.

Why are they worried about just the “N” word when they have the “C” word right in front of them. I don’t know too many people who like the “C” word. Especially not women. They get real irate. Besides, nobody says “colored” anymore. We’re eight years into the new millennium (how far do we have to go before the next millennium becomes the new millennium?). It’s “African American” now.

The National Federal Association for the Advancement of Colored People African Americans. The F Double A, Double A. The F Quadruple A? FAAAA? (That’s a long , long way to run for a new name.)

But they definitely can’t keep “National”. NAAAA.

Wait…the “N” word is not “National?”

Oh. That “N” word.

Nevermind.

You have BIG BALLS Tony! Had I put anything like this on my blog, the knives would have come out and cut me up good. LOL.

  2. Lewis Says:

Hey, how come BC knows that you have big balls? (I would have said Nuts…but that would have invoked the use of the letter “N.”)

  3. Curtis Says:

This reminds me of something Emily Litella might tirade on about!

  4. Alex/California Says:

    nevermind.

This reminds me of that time back in the day when they were busting schoolchildren

Busting schoolchildren is a terrible, terrible thing. I hear this is going on all over the country. Mean policemen arrest little children and put them in jail in the wrong neighborhood, so they can’t even play with their little friends. Imagine, busting schoolchildren! The food in jail isn’t good, and even though they get bread, I don’t believe they can get toast. Or nice cake. Now, who will tuck them in? Where will they hang their leggings? Where will they set up their little lemonade stands? Well, they don’t have toys in jail…

The thought police are great. It must be the word ‘that dare not speak its name’.

Tony, are you old enough to even remember who Emily Litella was? Anyway, I second Curtis’ thought.

First L and M were kicked out for smoking. Now N and C are gone. I imagine F will be the next letter to bite the dust.
Soon we won’t have an alphabet left. We will have to use numbers.

Funny how in our ” post-race” society we can’t seem to get past the issue of race. As a Yankee abolishionist perhaps my opinion isn’t needed, but here it is. A civil society should be a goal we all yearn for. I for one long for the day when I don’t hear the “N” word for blacks, the “K” word for Jews, the “F” word for gays, the “S” word for Latinos or the “WT” words for people of a different class. Maybe the new millenium will see this occur.

I honestly think you should not have touched this subject. It’s obvious you haven’t got a clue.
Stick to the things you know something about. The NAACP isn’t one of them.
BC, you can write about anything without backlash as long as it’s informative and done tastefully. There’s nothing to fear except ignorance.

  11. the n word Says:

rod is dead on .. your post was neither funny nor informative . you should stick to what you know .

See the thing I get from this is that you’re trying to make light of a situation using humor. I don’t think you think it’s not a big deal. I think you even grasp at what they’re attempting to do.

  13. Jay Says:

Furthermore, it’s AMAZING to me how many of my own people supported or even made light of this situation when we first heard about it. And because Tony blogged about it it’s a problem? Is it because he’s white? Hmmm…
