So You Think

thinker.jpg

I had never heard of the “Thinking Blogger Award” until a couple of days ago. It’s part meme, part pat-on-the-back. The honor is given to bloggers by other bloggers who feel that a particular blog makes them think or inspire them in some way. The beautiful Alan Bennett Ilagan was sweet enough to pass one on to me. I have to say that hold this recognition in high regard because it comes from a fellow blogger, and also because of who it comes from. Alan is a very well-spoken and sophisticated writer, photographer, artist, and bone maker.

Thanks, Alan.

Here are the rules: 1. If and only if you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 “Thinking Blogs”.
2. Link to THIS POST so that people can find the exact origin of the meme.
3. Optional: roudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.

Here are 5 blogs (in no order) that make me think…for very different reasons, and in very different ways :

1 - Ajax In The City -Nicky, the author, has a very funny, sparse way of writing that at first glance it just seems like a lot of hot, sexy, banter about nothing terribly challenging. But you often find it triggers something deeper about human behavior. Plus he often says the things the rest of us (me anyway) only think.

2 - Cooper’s Corrider - I don’t know what the rules are on multiple awards, but Alan had this blog on his list of five, too. Cooper is one of the best personal blog writers out there. His style is very elegant and passionate. It’s rare to find writing that stirs all the senses.

3 - Higher Powered - dAAve is a recovering alcoholic who deals pretty openly with the subject and his life in general. The things he writes about makes and helps you understand how we are all dealing with big issues just going living life day to day and we’re all in the same boat no matter what our own personal challenges are.

4 - I Bet After Sex He Smokes A Ham - Knottyboy hits you from every direction. Whether it’s political, pop culture, blasts from his past, or some crazy chicken sculpture, he stimulates your brain like no other. He is a wildy funny, sharp blend of rugged farmhand and fairy princess. Just like his blog he is a breed unto himself.

5 - The Moby Files - I don’t think Moby ever sets out to make you think or to make a statement. He just tells you how he feels about things and how he handles his day-to day and you just end up wondering what you would do. There ought to be bracelets. “WWMD” What Would Moby Do?. You could even change the “What” to a “Who” and you’d still have the same bracelet and the same blog. That’s what I love about Moby. Take him or leave him. I’ll take him. A few times.

Awww, I’m truly honored big T. That is probably the best compliment I’ve ever received.

As for thinking, we’ll my hope has always been that others have a chance to learn or be inspired by my own antics/mistakes. And as for the last comment, you know my feelings on that one already.

Course after such a flattering accolade, I’m stuck doing another damn meme. lol

If I did this, I’m sure there would be some people asking, “Why didn’t you nominate me?” So, I won’t nominate anyone so they can all hate me.
