My Favorite Year
This past Saturday the hands of the clock turned, the page turned on daily desk calendars, the moon turned full, and I turned 32 years old.
And it was pretty much a non-event. Just another day that the clock turns, the calender page turns, and the moons turns. No one ever looks at the 32nd birthday as one of those benchmark birthdays like 18, 21, 25, 30, 40, 50, or 65.
Other people may not realize it, but 32 is a benchmark birthday for me. Only because my 32nd year, itself, was filled with benchmarks.
It was the year that my best friend got married.
It was the year that my Granny turned 90
It was the year that I got a good raise.
It was the year that the Greyhound became number 4.
It was the year I had my first real romance.
It was the year I finally understood who I am.
It was my favorite year.
So far.

Happy birthday, and congratulations on understanding who you are! (Most people never gain that understanding in their entire lives, so any time somebody gets that far it’s cause for celebration.)

Happy Birthday Tony!I never had a problem with getting older (45). I just feel each year is another step in getting better!! Enjoy knowing and understanding the great person that you are.

Happy birthday Tony. If I had known it was your birthday I would have baked a cake in your honor. Congratulations on all of your benchmarks; especially the first real romance. He’s a lucky guy.

Happy, happy Birthday, Tony! Beautiful post. I hope at the turning of each birthday year you can look back and continue to say. “this was my favourite year”.

Your 32nd brithday will mark LSU’s third National Championship in football.
It’ll be especially sweet as it will be against USC in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. WOOHOO!
Whoops… I wrote all about MY wishes and desires. Happy Birthday LT! I hope your 32nd birthday brings better results from the UT Vols. Hopefully, they don’t blow it against KY or Vandy this year. That will be downright embarrassing.

It was the year you became a better man than you were the year before. Congrats Babeee.

Belated Happy Birthday! It was a great year for me too because I ran across your blog. I’m hooked. All of your good fortune, and personal milestones, couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Now that you know, don’t forget who you are, and the years will keep getting better and better. And your attorney must know how lucky he is.

Happy Birthday big guy! And many more! What does the greyhound is number 4 mean? Wow! Granny is 90! Bless her heart! I bet it is your favorite year; continue enjoying it Tony! The best is yet to come… So says a guy named Sinatra.

I was 32 the first time I was intimate with another guy. I was running away from myself for almost 19 years. It was just 3 months ago that I crossed the finish line.

Happy Birthday too!

i think it sounds like a damn good year.. i’d say the greyhound is higher than four.. or is it ‘less than,’ regardless.. he’s a permanent mainstay.. the labrador likes it that way..

Happy Birthday.
The Moon does not turn.
At least, Earth’s moon does not.
The Moon is the only natural satellite of Earth:
orbit: 384,400 km from Earth
diameter: 3476 km
mass: 7.35e22 kg
Called Luna by the Romans, Selene and Artemis by the Greeks, and many other names in other mythologies.

Tony,
I just came upon your website last week and I’ve enjoyed reading your writing moreso than any other blog I’ve happened on. You should give yourself a lot of credit for your writing talent. Happy 32nd birthday! I turned 53 in May and I can’t say there is anything all that terrible about getting older really. I’m much happier than I was in my 20′s–although not nearly as cute! I have found that as I’ve gotten older, I’ve been happier with who I am as that has all unfolded. I hope this will continue to be true for you as well! Godspeed!

Happy Birthday LT… It doesn’t sound like a non-event to me… It sounded like a turning point… It’s not about the destination… Thats the same for everyone… It’s about the journey…

The greyhound became #4?!? I guess I`m really out of some loop. Happy birthday Tony!

Happy belated birthday LT. 32, your best year… you crack me up. Your such a young pup as my father use to day.
Speaking of young pups…you’ll have to take a gander at my Chicago post with the pics and check out the bottom row of pics, in particular, the one of me and “j”. Let’s say the visit to chicago was incredible.

Allow me to add my felicitations to the swelling ranks of those expressed here. You do indeed have it going on. The idea of Granny turning 90 should provide you with some perspective and give you something to shoot for. Keep on rockin’ ole Rocky Top! Happy Birthday!

July 7th, 2007 at 2:41 am
Happy (belated) birthday.
If you thought your 32nd was good, can you imagine how much you’ll like your 33rd, 34th, 35th…?
July 7th, 2007 at 11:34 am
Who knows what the future holds for any of us? We can plan, and it can all be wiped away in a flash.
Just want you to enjoy today and all it has too offer. I think you have arrived at a place were you are confident in yourself and your granny and your relationships. Hang on to that Tony and you will do OK.
Take care,
Chris
