Another Big One

I never thought I’d say this, but I think I understand what it’s like to be a size queen cock pig. Because being a fan of a team in the Southeastern Conference, I now what it is know what it is face one Big One after another.
This past weekend, Tennessee played Arkansas (and lost) in what was probably our seventh “Big Game” out of the ten played so far. With so many strong teams in the conference (and a strong non-conference schedule, too), almost every game has some sort of “Big Game” implications. Sometimes it’s a heated rivalry (Florida). Sometimes it’s revenge (Georgia). Sometimes it’s something to prove (California). Sometimes it’s to stay in the conference championship hunt (LSU) or BCS bowl game (Arkansas). But always a Big One: the game you just have to win.
We won some of the Big Ones this season and lost some of the Big Ones. But there have been so many Big Ones, it’s like being a part of a twelve-week long gang-bang. By then end, your prostrate has been pounded to mush, but still you love it so much that you never want it to stop.
Even though I think that we in the SEC have more Big Ones, they have been many to be found all across the nation this year. Louisville upset then unbeaten West Virginia in the Big One two weeks ago, only to be upset themselves by still unbeaten Rutgers one week later in yet another Big One. As the season goes on, they just get bigger and bigger.
This weekend comes the biggest of all. The game that nobody can take their eyes off of. The grandaddy wrist-thick thirteen-incher of this college football season: unbeaten # 1 ranked Ohio State versus unbeaten #2 ranked Michigan. It’s like the National Championship game seven weeks early. This game is so huge that whatever the National Championship match-up turns out to be, even it won’t match it. Even if the national title game turns out to be Ohio State-Michigan all over again (which is remotely possible).
Because you know that even with a Big One, once you’ve had it, it’s not nearly so exciting the second time around. Not that you’d turn the Big One away, either.

Are the Vols, like, out of it now? Also, I thought once you had a big one you’d be hooked. At least that’s what you led me to believe. Oh well…..all that buildup for nothing….

Do you think that the Vols would have done better if Ainge was able to play?

Here in Ohio the countdown to game time has begun. One team will remain unbeaten, hopefully it will be OSU. I wonder how all of these schools would fare if the competition was academic?

That photo made me rethink my revulsion towards football.

the SEC needs more credit. Our conference as more strong teams then any other…and we everyone having young teams…just imagine the next few years.

I was wondering when you were going to be able to type out something about Tennessee’s last game. I sometimes conveniently forget to mention a big loss by LSU on my blog until the likes of Tony (brushstrokes) embarasses me over it. (LOL!) Oh well… I guess if the only team you have to root for is USuCk and the horrible Pac10… then you have to do something.
The LSU/Arkansas game will be HUGE!!! I am shocked that Auburn lost so badly to Georgia considering they lost to Vandy and KY. Unbelievable! The SEC is a very strong conference. I LOVE IT!

Ohio State has it. They have to.

I take it back. All bets are off now that Bo died today. I would not be surprised to see Michigan rally to win this now.
