Something To Think About…and act on

Did you know that more people in this country play the lottery than vote? Ain’t that kind of ironic. If you think about it, not voting is a bigger gamble than the Powerball. There’s a lot more at stake.
Nothing’s going to change in this country until our voting habits do.
So, get out and vote today. Make time. I laid out of work today just so I could be sure to take Granny in to cast her ballot.

I agree with most if not all of what Lou Dobbs has to say in his book “War on the Middle Class.” American citizens need to get involved and take control of our country’s destiny and that starts with voting in elections. “Staying the course” just isn’t working for the country or me. It has been my experience that politicians don’t want to talk about the real issues.
We have politicians who are owned by big businesses and professional lobbyists, a war in Iraq which the America public doesn’t seem to want to be involved in, a criminal invasion force of 12-20 million illegal immigrants in America, the religious right trying to introduce hatred in state constitutions and take away human rights (i.e., gay marriage), continued outsourcing of high paying jobs to other countries, we are less safe now then before 9/11, I believe we have illegal immigrants voting in our elections, and the economy is in the toilet. Do Americans really think our “professional” politicians are really going to solve these issues without pressure from the majority of the middle class citizens?
Did you hear that Mexico is running a “theme park” on the experience of being an illegal immigrant crossing over into the United States and teaching participants how to evade the U.S. Border Patrol. The Mexican government is paying the “tour guides.” I also heard that the Mexican President has a plan to have a majority occupation of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Oregon. Well they have a darn good start on that.
It’s time for Americans to wake up and get involved in what happens in this country, otherwise we will be living in a third world country sooner than later and we won’t be speaking English.
Okay, I am stepping down off my soapbox now.
Get out and vote today!!!

Steve- regarding the Mexican “theme park,” I live 60 miles from the border and that’s the first I’ve heard of that. Your fear of illegal immigrants amazes me. These people are the last people interested in voting- they avoid public institutions because they do not want the government to find them.

Homer - I saw the piece regarding the Mexican “theme park” on Channel 3 in Phoenix about a week or so ago. You might be able to find something on it on http://www.azfamily.com/.
If you are within 60-miles of the borders, you should have been able to see the impacts of what illegal immigration is doing to our country and the impact on Americans, such as: outrageous car insurance (54,000 cars stolen in Arizona in 2005), higher health insurance rates, access to health care (waiting hours to be seen in an emergency room), increased crime, homeless rates, job loss, identity theft (Maricopa County has the highest rate in the country), etc.). Illegal immigration is an enormous problem that needs to be addressed and solved as it is costing American tons of money each year.
People seems to want to ignore the fact that if someone is in the United States without proper immigration or authority, then the person is a criminal, pure and simple. People want to give them all kinds of politically correct names, such as “undocumented worker,” “guest worker,” etc. I personally don’t care what country an illegal is from, but I think no matter what country they are from they should be deported to their country of origin and not rewarded for breaking our immigration laws. America is a country of laws.
Americans need to take a hard stand on illegal immigration, and in my opinion, police should be able to question anyone’s citizenship status, arrest and deport illegals, anyone who aids illegals should be arrested, their assets seized and liquidated - just as is done with drug dealers/ trafficking.
I heard from a friend that works at a local national chain restaurant, that a dishwasher was hired with a false Social Security Number and Name. The person was fired. A few days later the person came back with another Social Security Number and Name and was rehired. Does anyone else see a problem with this? The restaurant owner should be arrested for knowingly hiring an illegal that probably stole someone’s identity.
It’s a big problem that needs to be addressed as it is costing all Americans a ton on money each year in increased insurance costs, increased taxes for educational and social programs, and much more. Enough is enough with looking the other way.
Some politicians are talking about amnesty. Amnesty will not solve any problems. It will only create more problems. What happens when these illegals are made Americans. Well, then they must be paid the minimum wage. Okay, so now all these business who have illegals working for them will have to import more illegals to replace the now American citizens who now must be paid the minimum wage. Now, you have a higher unemployment rate from all the illegals who got amnesty.
Vote, vote, vote!!!
