Like An Old Sweet Song…

Football is like a lover.
It gives me goose bumps. It makes my heart race. It’s irresistable and I am powerless to its charms. Sometimes it beats me and yet, I still come running back for more, only to have an explosive, toe-curling reunion.
Tennessee played Georgia tonight. The game was down in Athens, Georgia, so I streteched out on the sofa to spend some time with my lover.
This was one of those games you hear about for weeks ahead of time. One of the Big Games. Big for Tennessee because a win would keep us in good position to take over the east division of the Southeastern Conference should someone trip up Florida (which, by the way, BrettCajun’s beloved LSU Tigres failed to do earlier today. Thanks for taking us down with you….YES, I know Florida beat us, too. But losing by only one point, is quite different than being spanked by thirteen).
For Georgia it was a Big Game because, even though they were undeafeated going into this game, they had something to prove because they had yet to play a ranked team so far this season.
The Big Game is often won or lost because of The Big Play: the play that shifts the momentum and control of the game from one team to the other. The Big Play can be something like an interception, a breakaway punt return, an unrecovered fumble in the red zone, or a blocked kick. This game had them all.
Think of those mind-blowing, toe-curling, marathon sessions with your lover. The kind of sessions where every moment brings some new thrill, doing things to you that you didn’t know could be done, in places you didn’t know you had, nore times than you thought possible. The kind of sessions where you are left limp and sticky with a satisfying wetness that in any other situation would be unpleasant. That was this game.
By the time there was only about five minutes left in the first half of the game, Georgia had scored 24 points. Tennessee, 7. By the end of the game, five minutes and two quarters later, after a series of Big Play after Big Play after Big Play (by both teams), Georgia had gone on to score another nine points.
Tennessee scored some more, too. A LOT MORE. Like 44 points more. Tennessee orchestrated a comeback from 17 points behind, to win by 18. Final score: Georgia 33, Tennessee 51.
There were so many Big Plays that if I tried to break it down for you, I’d be writing all night (not to mention the fact that you would stop reading. But if you are really interested, you can get more here). There were so many big plays that when, in the 4th quarter, Tennessee intercepted Georgia for the third time I was numb from euphoria. Eventually getting your prostate repeatly hammered will have diminshing returns. But that doesn’t mean you want it to stop.
I’m so charged up right now, so hungry for another round with my lover, despite the workover I had tonight, that I have barely been able to write this post. So, I apologize if it rambles.
Four teams ranked above us in the polls lost today, and Georgia was one of them. So, I imagine that we will make a Big move up, finally cracking the Top Ten. My prediction is that we will take LSU’s spot at #9. (Sorry, Brett).
Whatever the outcome of the rankings, or even the rest of the season, this is one game I’ll remember for a long time. Maybe the rest of my life. I’ll be ninety years old in some nursing home. The nurses and orderlies will worry I might be deranged from the Big grin I have on my face. When they ask me if I’m okay, I say. “Oh, I’m fine. I just have Georgia on my mind.”

With that boy holding the ball, I’d be a football lover too.

Your lover beats you and you still come back for more just because of the potential makeup sex? That’s so sad, Tony. You have the power to leave the abusive relationship. It’s not healthy.
Good for the Vols! That was quite a comeback.
As for me reading it and identifying with the things a lover can do to my body, I guess I’ll have that one day as it’s never happened….ah well. Thanks for making me have something ELSE to long for. Sigh.

Gosh! Now I wish I had watched the game! Wow! Scoring over 50 points is quite a feat against Georgia, at home no less, and great experience for Ainge. Kudos to his offense for protecting him. A dream game for sure. Did you cum? I know how it feels. For years I rooted for Syracuse Basketball and when they finally won the NCAAs I knew I could die happy. YES!!!
GOOOO VOLS!!! *air split, waiving pom-poms, lands on feet gracefully*

Had I been there, you would have experienced the “hypothetical” version, as well! IT’S GREAT TO BE A TENNESSEE VOL!

When I saw a birthday boy in Maine wearing a Tennessee jersey, I knew the Vols were on the march.
Is Ainge related to the former Celtics player?

No puck. No sticks. No ice. No “He shoots, he scores!” …. What is this strange game?
*perplexed*

I watched most of the 2nd half of TN vs GA game Sat nite. It was hella good & a well deserved win. It was exciting to watch even to a non-fan. I kept thinking; I know somebody who is a big TN fan, who is it? Then it clicked and I went to read your blog. Your comments echo how I feel when Ohio State beats a worthy opponent like Texas or Michigan. The euphoria stays with you for awhile & it’s all good. Enjoy!
