Two Double Oh Five

Well, it looks like to old clock on the wall is telling us we’ve come to the end of another three hundred and sixty five days. Just think, we are already on our way over the hump of the first decade of the century. Remember how just six years ago at the end of ‘99 the world was going to end? And here we are. Still here.

All in all, I guess 2005 was like all of my previous twenty-nine years. There were good things and bad things, bad things and good, and the world didn’t come to an end. I got a raise at work, but lost out on a promotion. I sometimes feel trapped and cut off from the world in rural Tennessee, but other times I revel in the peace and simplicity. This blog has seemed to develop a small group of regular visitors, but I now I feel pressure (my own) to always write something worth reading. I conquered some of my esteem issues, but still haven’t quite gotten the nerve to put myself “out there.” The Vols were predicted to be one of the major contenders in college football this year, but dropped completely out of the rankings by mid-season. Good things and bad things, bad things and good.

But in general I’m pretty happy, I’m healthy, and I know that even at the worst of times, things could still be a lot worse. I don’t make resolutions for the new year. That doesn’t mean I don’t have goals or things I hope to change or achieve. Nor do I look at resoultions as a set up for failure. I just don’t see why something important has to happen in 365 days. If it takes longer, then so what? It’s not the end of the world.

HAPPY 2006 TO YOU ALL.

Wishing you the best and hoping that you realize all of your desires in 2006 (and more if need be!)

Very well said. As for your blogging skills, you are too hard on yourself. We’ll keep reading.

You are so right, Tony. Your 2 biggest treasures are your health and your Granny. You live in a beautiful area of the country, you work hard and life is serene. Nothing wrong with that. Who could ask for more? You probably have a pretty full plate with work, your blog and taking care of Granny. Enjoy where you are right now. May it continue in the new year.
