If you ever have an opportunity to see some of Garland's performaces from that time, it's worth checking them out, if only to scan the people in the first few rows. It's a total snapshot of 50s/60s gay culture. It's kind of cool to see how they are dressed and how far they'll go to show their admiration of her as a performer.
