Or to anyone else for that matter. People of every age are still in awe over something, and it's nice when you don't have to feel ashamed to look at it, or ask questions about it. I'm certain the father was angry at the child for "embarrassing" him in front of you and everyone in the bank. Although it was all in his mind. If more people would just smile and chit chat during those uncomfortable moments (at the bank, post office, etc) it would make them go by that much quicker.
