I found out three things today: 1) the awards season doesn’t end with the Oscars; 2) there are awards for blogs; and 3) I won one! (two, actually )

Apparantly there’s something called the “Bloggies” where blogs and their authors are honored. I didn’t win one of those. I got something even better. I got mentioned twice in the “Wonderboy’s Weblog Awards 2005” which are given out by my buddy Jimmy on his blog “Wonderboy.” Okay, sure, since Jimmy is a friend he is probably a little biased, but so what? It still makes you feel all fuzzy to get an award. I won’t spoil it and tell you what I won, you have to go to his blog to see it yourself. Besides, you should see his blog anyway becuase he writes some cool shit sometimes.

But if you are here, you probably have already read Wonderboy because I get a lot of hits refferred from his blog. I swear 90% of the people who have come here probably came because of some mention of my blog on his. It’s like he’s my pimp daddy and here I am struttin’ like the proudest Ho’ on the stroll with my new bling-bling. (Side note: I am the whitest boy in America and I can’t believe I just said “bling-bling”).

Erase that image from your brain and now try imagine me quivering with shock yet paralyzed with surprise upon hearing my name called. The trembling causes the $500,000 worth of jewels around my giraffe neck to dance in the light like camera flashes going off from the throngs of paparazzi swarming me. Wait a minute, those were the camera flashes of the throngs of paparazzi swarming me as I clutch the statuette (which I find is much heavier than it looks) to the silky bodice of my designer red-carpet dress. “You like me, you really like me!”

But seriously, before the music starts to play me off, I’d like to thank Jimmy for thinking of me and being such a great blog buddy. Thanks to Mark for encouraging me to start writing a blog. Thanks to RJ, who also push me to start and supports me with by doing all the custom and funny graphics you see from time to time (like the one with this entry). Thanks to WordPress for being easy enough to use for a computer idiot like me to handle and just difficult enough to make me have to learn a few things. Thanks to fellow bloggers like Moby, Andy, Wah, Ajax, WCB, Corin, and all the others who have helped me, inspired me, and linked me. And thanks to Hillary Swenk for her amazing portrayal of me in the film version of my blog. If I have forgotten anyone, you know who you are.

But most of all, I want to say thanks to all of you who take time away from much more important things in your life to spend a few minutes reading and commenting on the stuff that rolls around in my watermelon head.

I’m just a boy from the country with a dream.
